What is the 50k Writing Camp?

80%

of our authors wrote 50,000 words or more in 2020 & 2021

Every year, writers across the globe band together in a triumphant display of swords, shields, and pens to take on the challenge of writing 50,000 words in just 30 days.

The challenge is daunting. It’s difficult. It’s gruelling (why else would it be considered a challenge?) In similar challenges across the world, over 4,000,000 attempts have been made, and less than 20% have ever reached completion.

That’s where the 50k Writing Camp comes in.

Smart writers don’t tackle this challenge alone. Winning writers find their tribe. The 50k Writing Camp is a program that has been developed by international bestselling author of over 60 books, Daniel Willcocks, with the sole premise of giving authors their best chance of crossing the finish line and bathing in the blood of their fallen words.

So, how about it, eh? That novel idea you’ve had buried in your head… That half-baked book draft that’s been collecting dust in your bottom drawer… That story that just won’t let go…

Why not unleash the beast, and get it done? After all, what’s 30 days in the timeline of your dreams?

Julie Hiner

The 50k Writing Camp was like having a personal writing coach in my room every morning to get me out of bed and pumping words on the page. The group’s support was amazing, the daily messages were inspiring and motivational.

David Corkett

50k Writing Camp with Daniel Willcocks was one of the best experiences of my life! I would recommend this boot camp to any budding or seasoned writer.

Laura Kendrick

The 50k Writing Camp was one of the best experiences I’ve had as a frequent challenger. The sense of community meant everyone was really rooting for each other and the sprints kept me accountable. There was no pressure, just encouragement and advice as we all moved towards the same goal.

Most frequent questions and answers

No, you don’t have to attend every session. No points will be taken from you if an emergency pops up and you can’t make it.

All sprints will take place using the Zoom.US service. Accounts are free to create, and you will be sent a link ahead of the session to jump into the conference. Simply download the software, and then click the link once you have received it.

The majority of sessions will not be recorded, however some sessions may be recorded for future marketing purposes. You will have the chance to consent or decline this ahead of any recordings being taken, should you wish to remain anonymous.

No. You can work on whatever part of your author career you like. However, it is strongly advised that in order to complete the challenge you use this time to concentrate on focused word creation.

The 50k Writing Camp is in no way officially linked or registered with the NaNoWriMo organisation.

While there is no rule in place that you have to have a camera activated and show your face on the Zoom sprints, many will find that they are more accountable to writing words if they are visible. If you are not comfortable with this, then simply turn your camera off and be present for the sessions. You don’t have to have it on.

Not a problem. Zoom is an international service and you can join from anywhere around the world. You can find the time conversion of your chosen timezone at https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/ .

You can get a full refund up until October 28th. No refunds will be available after that date due to the limited capacity of the Writing Camp service and the difficulty at that point of filling your vacant seat.
